11th Brics Parliamentary Forum
The 11th Brics Parliamentary Forum, to be held on 4 and 5 June in Brasilia, marks a significant step forward in consolidating inter-parliamentary cooperation between the member countries, reaffirming the commitment of the legislative branches to strengthening political dialogue, exchanging their best practices, and building a common agenda aimed at sustainable development, social justice and multilateral governance.
As part of the forum's programme, two unprecedented and highly relevant meetings will be held on 3 June.
2nd Meeting of the Chairs of the Committees on International Affairs of the Brics Parliaments with the aim of deepening political and diplomatic alignment between the national legislatures, promoting debates on the main issues on the international agenda and the role of the Brics in global geopolitics.
2nd Forum of Brics Women Parliamentarians with the aim of giving greater visibility to the role of women in politics and the formulation of public policies, strengthening the gender perspective in the bloc's deliberations.
Since its creation, the group has dedicated itself to promoting co-operation in various areas, such as the economy, science, technology, innovation, and sustainable development. The expansion of the Brics' parliamentary dimension gives the bloc greater democratic legitimacy and reinforces its role in building a fairer, more balanced, and multipolar international order.
In this scenario, Brics is consolidating itself as an essential platform for the defence of multilateralism, sustainable development, and more equitable governance. The time is therefore ripe for inter-parliamentary dialogue and for proposing solutions to the critical issues that permeate the world order and directly affect the Brics countries.
